Getting Started or Welcome Module
The Getting Started or Welcome Module on Canvas serves as an entry point for students into a course. It is created by the eLearning department and contains placeholders for course-specific information. Instructors can customize the module to provide students with important information. The module introduces the syllabus, assignment guidelines, and instructor information. The goal of this module is to encourage students to engage in the course, so that they can complete their assignments.
When building a Welcome Module on Canvas, it is important to consider the needs of your students. You may want to add additional files and pages to the module. It is important to keep the structure as organized as possible so that students will be able to find materials in an appropriate order.
Importing student resources into your course
Importing student resources into your course using TWU Canvas is a quick and easy process. Once you’ve imported your course materials, you can easily adjust the placement of the imported modules. Once imported, the resources will appear in the Modules section of your course. You can also edit the content to make it fit the needs of your course.
The first step in the process is to search for the course materials you’d like to import. After finding the courses, click the Import into Your Course button. The files will then be downloaded to your computer. If you’re a TA or a Designer, you will see an Import into Your Course page.
You can also export course content into HTML format for offline viewing on your computer. This format supports dynamic links and complex HTML. This exporting option is helpful when students want to access a file they’ve downloaded from the course. However, this process can be cumbersome if you have a lot of content.
